CHILDREN’S WIGS

As with adults, there are many reasons why children suffer from hair loss, alopecia, cancer, trichotillomania. Hair loss in children is a more prevalent occurrence than most people imagine. Currently, children’s hair loss is responsible for approximately 3% of all pediatric office visits in this country. The effects of hair loss go deeper than just a change in a child’s outward appearance. Hair loss can erode a child’s self-confidence and limit him or her from experiencing life the way children should. With an injured self-image, a child’s attitude toward treatment and their physical response to it can be negatively affected also.

The good news is that there are many choices to purchase and there are a few organizations that offer free wigs for children to the age 21.

At Wig Allure Hair Loss Center, not only do we carry wigs and alternative hair for kids in the salon, we are ambassadors for Wig for Kids and Children with Hair Loss (CWHL). Both organizations provide wigs for children at no cost. They do this with the help of charitable donations of both monetary and hair (ponytails) which can be donated at our salon.

Since opening in 2000, CWHL, has helped thousands of children with hair loss at no cost to the family, using the latest technology in the hair replacement industry, they provide children with only the highest quality hairpieces.

At Wigs for Kids, their mission statement since 1981 is helping children look themselves & live their lives to help heal the pain of these struggles and had been serving children suffering from hair loss. Wigs for Kids is a cooperative effort among Certified Cosmetic Therapists throughout North America who share a common goal. “We want to give these kids the opportunity to feel good about themselves again.”

Feel free to come in and donate your hair or if you have a child in need we are the local salon associated with both organizations that will give your child a wig free of cost.
